I decided to use this format for presenting the artists that Sony have signed as this is a popular template in meme culture. It is often used to display personal favourites and opinions. Some of the most popular themes are fast food restaurants and cartoon characters. Meme culture often ties in with pop music as an idea being circulated allows it to become more popular, a key aspect of pop music.

Copyright Permission

Polydor Ltd 4 Pancras Square, London N1C 4AG Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to ask permission for usage of your copywrited track, “If I Go” by one of your artists, Mura Masa in order to use it for my A-level Media Studies Coursework. I am currently in Year 12 at Weald of Kent Grammar School, Tonbridge. For my  Coursework I have been given a brief to make my own pop music video and after research into the genre I have come to choose your song. As a fan of Mura Masa being given this opportunity is a privilege so to be granted your permission to use the track would be apricated. In order to use ‘This Is The Life’ in the production of a music video, I require permission from Polydor and the rtist, Mura Masa due to copyright of the song. The completed music video will be available only to the school I am studying at, and OCR, the exam board, in order to access and grade my completed work.  Yours sincerely, Sam Palmer

Song Choice

What If I Go? – Mura Masa I have chosen this song due to its upbeat rhythm section and counter melodies. The keyboard roots the song whilst steel drums reinforce a warm summer feeling to the verses. However, the chorus changes the genre from pop to dance-pop [as it moves away from the dancehall and R&B feeling. This happens as the vocals change and become distorted as electronic bass noises come in playing over bells and other percussion instruments. The vocals sung by Bonzai are in major as she sings lyrics about love and loyalty. The song has a distinct feeling to the track that is often found with Mura Masa tracks. As the producer he can chose his own instrumentation which often reflects the diverse nature of the UK, the country he was raised in. I have chosen this song as the artist has worked with the likes of Charli XCX and A$AP Rocky, two artists that are signed to Sony and popular within the pop genre. The Track itself is 3.15 staying close to the brief. The Artist is ...

Logo for Production Company Bams Beats

Image
My Logo and Company Name My logo's colour palette uses bold, bright reds and oranges. These warm colours attract the younger target audience of 16-25 year olds  following  the set  brief.  The warm colours share many of the same summery connotations of the composition I have chosen. I chose the red circle as it is also used in the Atlantic records logo, a company with a similar remit as my own. I also took inspiration form popular culture for the main logo looking at different products. The chocolate brand "M&Ms" are a household name and are a brand who resonate with my target audience. The headphones also reflect the dance-pop style of the music I will be using as they signify the genre and reinforce my target audience. The font and typography keep my target audience at the focal point of design. The font ‘Bauhaus 93’ follows a sans serif style which is popular among young people. The colloquial use of “BAMS,” without the apostrophe reinforces my t...
